Do Root Canals Hurt?

Do-Root-Canals-HurtEveryone has heard horror stories about root canals — so most people go into it wondering “Do root canals hurt?” and most assume they do.  That’s not necessarily true and we’re here to explain!

Yes, they can be somewhat painful if there is a bad infection in the tooth and the fact that it can fight the anesthetic that’s administered. But, generally, as long as you are numb, there should be very little pain, if any.  If you are feeling discomfort, you may need more anesthetic. Always let your dentist know if it is still hurting you so he/she can give you more.

Root canals don’t have to be scary or have to hurt! In fact, a lot of patients say that it wasn’t bad at all.
