Honestly, the dental office has a smell? This is a mystery to me since I’m in one every day and smell nothing. But according to a lot of people, if we were to blindfold them and plop them in the dental chair like one of those Febreeze commercials, they would know exactly where they are. So either my nose is broken or this is NOT a myth – HOWEVER we did some digging and there are some definite reasons why the aroma is as distinct as some people say!
The end of the year is when most flexible spending, health savings, and insurance benefits expire and we’d like to give you a friendly reminder that it’s a good time to come in for your dental visit.
In most cases you will “lose” the money you have set aside if you do not use it before the end of the year. Check the print in your policy for further details. Here is a list of our currently accepted dental insurances. Continue Reading…
Everyone’s eyes slightly light up and twinkle when you see the word “FREE”. Don’t lie — yours did too. It’s science. And why fight that? Let’s instead embrace it and utilize your very own team members as advocates of your business. It’s a fact that your staff are your free mini-marketers online.
If you’re anything like me — you want that BRIGHT white smile all of the time. I mean who is to say when Mr. Right might be around the corner or you’ll run into an old friend that needs to be reminded of just how great you truly are? I’m a firm believer in staying ready and looking extraordinary. But when it comes to your smile, maybe you’re also like me and have a coffee addiction, or find yourself sipping on wine, tea or any of the other many culprits that triggers teeth staining. What a drag! You don’t want to whiten your teeth too often, but as a woman we have the miracle that is makeup! HALLELU’! Did you know that different shades of lipstick can actually affect how white your teeth look? It’s no accident that the striking lady in the toothpaste commercial is sporting that bright red lipstick. Maybe it’s Maybelline…but maybe it’s the science of color! Check out the proof right here of what lipstick can do for whitening your smile:
We often get asked about why we take X-rays or encounter people worried due to the radiation risk. Let us reassure you why we take them. X-rays are a necessary part of good patient care. Since we can see only about one-third of the actual tooth, X-rays provide valuable information that we cannot visualize otherwise. I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t feel comfortable if your dentist had a blindfold on, now would you? To help put it in perspective as to WHY dental X-rays are so important: Continue Reading…
We are excited to welcome Dr. Kim Kutzler to the Szmanda Dental family.
We are grateful Kim and her husband Sam have decided to move back to the Central Wisconsin community. Dr. Kutzler attended dental school at Marquette University School of Dentistry, graduating with magna cum laude honors. While in school, she began volunteering with Special Olympics of Wisconsin, and continues to do so every year. Have you ever wondered why some dental office marketing will use many-a cheesy stock image of a model smiling with an apple by their mouth!? Yah….I wondered too and asked the professionals here at Szmanda Dental “what’s with the apples?”. Turns out apples are like nature’s toothbrush. They will never be a suitable replacement obviously, but when you think about it makes a lot of sense.
Let’s break it down:
At this point it’s probably safe to say the majority of us have some form of social media flowing in our lives, if not have multiple accounts we can check by a press of a button. We’re living in the age of the NOW where we can even ask our phones a question and *blink* there’s the answer! I’m willing to even bet your grandma has a Facebook account #WoahNana!
It’s no surprise that technology gets more advanced year after year and in the dental world we have embraced it! It has helped us connect with our patients on a more personal level and express who we are more effectively to prospective patients. Word of mouth is by far the #1 reason why people choose us and then straight to the Google machine they go to learn more! Social media has helped us get honest feedback with reviews and even schedule you more conveniently. When you consider that one day in time people thought the only cure for a toothache was to kiss a donkey, I’d say we’ve come a long ways! There are still some practices that don’t make social media in the dental office a priority and we think that’s bologna!
There is no question that trusting your dentist puts you in a very vulnerable state and we want to help you avoid dental scams. The issues you acquire in your mouth, in addition to the treatment used to fix those problems, are areas of expertise you know nothing about as the patient. That is a big part of our job, making sure we educate you on your dental needs and build a trust in us that you can rely on. You need to remember that even though a practice may have all the required degrees and qualifications, it does not mean they are trustworthy. We have seen time and time again unethical dental actions that have been taken elsewhere. There is a solid percentage of new patients that come to Szmanda Dental because they were taken advantage of and need a 2nd opinion. Let us clarify — we are not writing this blog to bad mouth these other dental offices, but instead help patients learn of how to be aware of these scams and hopefully save them time, money and discomfort.
Do you ever wonder how celebrities get their teeth to look so perfect and white?
Most likely, they had dental veneers placed or possibly resin bonding. So veneers versus resin bonding — What are those and what is the difference you ask? Let us explain.
